A Toddler named Tucker: Oklahoma Family Portrait Photographer

For me, one of the toughest “category” of people to photograph is the toddler. Fortunately, I love kids this age, and as long as the family is up for us to chase the little one around waiting for that perfect shot, it can be a fun afternoon. This week, Tucker was the toddler on my schedule. He was non-stop energy and movement, but his mom and Uncle were great, and infinitely patient, while we took him to fields, a park, and put him in front of a backdrop for a few shots.

Oh, Baby! : Oklahoma Newborn Portrait Photographer

Photographing a newborn is always a special treat for me.  I count down the days until the mama’s due date, and fret with her if the baby doesn’t come immediately. Then, I mark my calendar for our appointment, and it becomes the highlight of my week.

This week, baby Roxie Mae did not disappoint. In fact, she was a champion sleeper, and allowed me to move her in a dozen directions, or more, without a whimper! As a photographer, this is a dream baby!

Roxie’s adorable mom dresses her in the cutest clothes (mama has a boy already, so she has been looking forward to dressing this little girl!) As a result, even though she is only eight days old, Roxie was already used to being put in tutu’s, hats, headbands, etc. I literally could have gone on photographing this young lady for hours, but it was time for mom to go home to her family, so I reluctantly let her go.

Birthday Girl: Oklahoma Child Portrait Photographer

How cool is this Birthday wish? A modeling session with a photographer!

On he

r 15th Birthday, I got to spend a few hours with this gorgeous young woman! She was a natural in front of the camera, and I had a great time with her out in the country, laying in the (very cold) grass, and posing her up against buildings amid a crazy amount of local traffic. None of it phased her . . . she just kept taking beautiful picture after beautiful picture. In fact, there were so many good shots, the hardest part about the shoot was choosing the best. What a great problem to have!

It’s All in the Family!: Oklahoma Portrait Photographer

When the family comes in from different states, it is the perfect time to get everyone in together for photos. That is what happened for the Martinez family this Thanksgiving. On the Friday after the holiday, we all got together for their photos. While the family was all in a cooperative mood, the weather was not . . . and it was below freezing when I arrived to start taking photos!

In addition to cold fingers and (understandably) cranky kids, we also had challenges of the soft ground wanting to tip over my lights, and causing chairs to sink into the ground, as the temperature came up above freezing and all the ice on the ground melted. Luckily, the Martinez family all have  a great sense of humor, and it kept us all laughing (and occasionally leaping when a light began to fall, or a chair began to sink) throughout the morning.

After finishing with the family groupings, I was able to take Ivan and Danielle off to do their Engagement photos. Danielle is knee-deep in wedding plans, and looking to send out her save-the-date notices. The three of us went off in search of cool backgrounds, and took photos all over the downtown area, and then onto an old bridge that is now on private property. (Don’t worry! I had permission!)

I really enjoyed my time with this family. Between the teasing between the siblings, and the general chaos that ensues when you get a big group together, I felt right at home. Only, the Martinez family may be a bit saner than my own!
