ATTORNEY-TURNED-ARTIST HAS WRITTEN ONE OF THE TOP TEN CRAFT BOOKS IN
THE NATION
Wrightwood, California: The December 15th edition of The American
Library Association's Booklist name The Complete Book of Decorative
Painting by California Author and Artist Tera Leigh as one of the "Top
10 Craft & Hobby Books" of 2002. "Leigh takes the world
of folk-art painting, such as tole and rosemaling work, and goes beyond
faux finishes to include brushstroke techniques and realistic interpretations
of nature and people. This is a bona fide reference on the art"

Booklist has been librarian and booksellers leading choice for reviews
of the latest books. Every year the publication reviews nearly 4,000
books for adults, more than 2,500 titles for children, more than 500
reference books and electronic reference tools, and 1,000 other audiovisual
materials.
Complete Book of Decorative
Painting was also presented with the Award of Excellence at the annual
Hobby Industry Association (HIA) Show in Anaheim, CA, on January 26,
2003 at the 11th Annual gala sponsored by Crafts Magazine (published
since 1978) and Craftrends (a magazine for the craft trade). The Awards
of Excellence recognize companies for outstanding products and books
introduced in the creative marketplace. The winners were chosen from
among 200 finalists in 23 categories - covering a wide range of crafting
areas, from needlecrafts and scrapbooking to holiday crafts and crafts
for kids. Winners will be announced in the June/July '03 issue of Crafts
Magazine, on sale May 20, 2003 and the April '03 issue of Craftrends
Magazine.
The expert editorial
staff of Crafts Magazine, whose members have nearly 100 years of crafting
experience, judged the entries. Every entry was evaluated based on the
following criteria: Quality, Attractiveness & Consumer Appeal, Originality/Innovation,
Usefulness to Marketplace, Clarity of Instructions, and Advertising
& Marketing Support
The Complete Book
of Decorative Painting, released in November 2001, is a best-seller
for publisher North Light Books with over 80,000 copies currently in
print. Ms. Leigh's second book for North Light, How to be Creative if
You Never Thought You Could will be available in stores in March 2003.
In addition to her books, Ms. Leigh, a California native who grew up
in Whittier, is a columnist for Country Marketplace Magazine, PaintWorks,
Quick & Easy Painting, and Tole World magazines. Her design work
