Like most people, my work has evolved as result of my own search for inspiration and fulfillment. In 1995, I was running an online mailing list for painters, and I saw how many women had a poor self-image and lacked creative confidence. Painting was, for many of them, the first time they had done something solely for themselves, and they were proud of that work. In 1998, I took some time write about my own thoughts on creativity, self-confidence, and life. When I shared what I had written, it became obvious to me that other women felt the same as I, and that I could fill a need through writing and teaching others how to use their creativity in their every day life. Those articles ultimately became the basis for the Tera’s Wish web site on creative living , and my second book “How to be Creative if You Never Thought You Were”.
My interest in portraiture came when I realized how many women don’t feel good about themselves, and don’t give themselves permission to feel good about their lives. I love working with women, young and “old”, and reminding them just how beautiful and valuable they are. When I sit down with a woman, and we put together her make up and clothing, and then just go out and have fun together – and that results in beautiful photographs, it is my way of reminding her that you are living your life right now, and even if you aren’t your ideal weight, or age, or size . . . you are still loved, and beautiful, in the eyes of your friends and family. It is easy to get so caught up in what you don’t like, that you spend years of your life without great photos of yourself, or you with your family. Don’t let this time in your life go without documenting it with beautiful photos, that will create even more beautiful memories for your friends and family when you are no longer with them.
This is the story of your life, and it is important!
