Meet Tera: Adventurer and Traveler

One of my strongest beliefs is that life flows from one experience into the next, and one of the biggest driving factors in my life is “fear of regret”. When an opportunity presents itself, I use the “rocking chair” test; will I regret not taking the chance when I can no longer travel and sit in my (proverbial) rocking chair with only my memories. As a result, I have traveled all over the world, often by myself. I found that if I waited until a friend could go with me, those trips kept getting postponed.

So, I gathered my courage, and in my 20′s I made my first trip of many to Europe. By myself. It wasn’t easy, but it opened my eyes to the world, and I never looked back. I found that when I did not travel, my senses dulled. I forgot about the magic that experiencing other cultures brings into your life. For me, travel is about confronting fears, experiencing other worlds, being humbled by the vastness of beauty, knowledge and wisdom that exists beyond my small world. It reminds me to live big, and take the chances that lead to the grand experiences of life.

I’m a passionate outdoor person, and along with my three adopted mutts (Keeley, Bandit, and Jake), I love to hike, swim, raft, and explore new places. I love the water, and would far rather be out doing things than staying home. I enjoy “adventure travel”, and among my experiences has been skydiving in Florida, hot air ballooning in Florida and California, white-water rafting in Montana, and seven laps with a professional driver at 179 mph at Daytona International Speedway. The photo, right, was taken in Gibraltar, during  a quick trip while I was visiting Spain, Portugal, and Morocco last year.
