An altered books is created by taking an old used book and glue sections together, paint on it, etc. and recycle it into a new book or other artwork. The first book shown was altered to create a memoir of the first seven years of my relationship with my husband. The book on this page was originally about 250 pages. The completed "altered" book is about 20 pages. The book at the bottom of this page has been altered into two sections with cut outs for 3-D objects.

This is the first altered book shrine I created. The book is glued to stand open as a display piece or shrine. There are three cut out sections inside the book in which the letters, an art "doll", a card, etc. are glued. |
This is the back of the Femme display/shrine book. It is painted in acrylic paints with clip art, magazine clippings, misc. paper pieces and leaves are glued on for decoration. |

Also from Pam Yee's dictionary, this is the entry for "dreamer". |
